The Tab IU

The Tab IU is a student-run entertainment and newsource on Instagram for Indiana University-Bloomington with a 22.2k following. I held the position of content creator for this account for one year before being promoted to Editor in Chief. Duties for running this account included reporting on campus news, events and sports, conducting investigative journalism, running local ads, writing copy, creating graphics and creative content, marketing the brand image and interacting with followers. I recruited, trained and managed a team of 20 people in this role. This has been my most valuable position as it has given me experience across so many different areas, especially leadership and team management. We were often the first to report on big stories before they were released by the university, so students relied on us to give them the real facts before the university put out their own “PR-friendly” version. Being my own boss was tough, as I didn’t have anyone to turn to for guidance. As most social media is, this job was a 24/7 commitment that I put my blood, sweat and tears into. I am very proud of what I accomplished with my time at The Tab IU.
